Meeting Overview
The Government-Community Engagement Meeting was led by Equality Minister Kokab Stewart, who shared her personal experiences of vulnerability while emphasizing the government's commitment to inclusivity following recent racial riots in Scotland. Key discussions revolved around the necessity for visible leadership and proactive community engagement, with Police Scotland assuring their readiness to respond to potential violence. Participants stressed the importance of implementing effective anti-bullying and anti-racist policies in schools, alongside trauma-informed approaches to support educators and students.
The meeting also highlighted the underrepresentation of ethnic minorities in sectors like construction and the ongoing issues of institutional racism and phobia affecting communities, particularly Sikh and Hindu children.
Action items included Minister Stewart's pledge to communicate concerns about racism in schools, and encouragement for community organizations to engage with the government on these critical issues.

Project Comments
I appreciate the minister …
I apreciate the minister taking time out to hold a meeting in Glasgow to sooth the concerns of various ethnic minoritees. Im not sure this meeting was affective but im sure there was some good made of the meeting.
I think older issues of fundinng etc etc came to the surface and overwhelmed the actual discussion.
Cheers
