What is Co-production?

Co-production is the belief that lived experience is as valuable as learned or professional experience and organisations like Edinburgh Trust who are providing services for people in financial insecurity need to work with lived experts so our services/grants can be better.

We Co-produce our work because we want to change the system that oppresses people in financial insecurity. That can only happen meaningfully when we centre and shift power to people with lived expertise.

Co-production is transformative; for people who practice it, for the services we design with it, and for the system we want to change.

 What is not Co-production?

Co-production is not formal work and should not reflect that a person who isn’t fit to work is fit to work.

Co-production is not a charitable service itself; you are not accessing a service from us, and we are not your caseworkers.

The Thriving Futures Fund

In Edinburgh we are creating a new grant, which we are calling the Thriving Futures Fund (TFF).  This fund will provide up to three years of funding for individuals. By giving people longer term financial support alongside support from our referral partners, we think we can have a longer lasting impact and help people to thrive, not just survive.

This fund is being designed in collaboration with two organisations: One Parent Families Scotland and Fresh Start.

Once it is designed (by the end of 2024) it will then be tested out by 5 organisations for a likely period of three years (2025 – 2028).
